Built around a classic diamond frame handcrafted from durable, lightweight steel, the V7 features a versatile Shimano MegaRange 1x7 drivetrain with a wide gear range designed to handle nearly any hill. Puncture-resistant tires provide a smooth ride over rough city streets, while dual-pivot caliper brakes with quick release deliver confident stopping power.

As with all PUBLIC bikes, the V7 includes thoughtful commuter details: full fenders and a chainguard to keep you clean and dry, a negative-rise stem for a sportier feel and responsive handling, and a saddle and grips finished in a durable, weatherproof material. Front and rear rack mounts come standard, making it easy to carry cargo wherever you’re headed.

Mike's Review

"It's all very marvelous; one of my thoughts would be to have some handlebar options that would have a wider or more beach bike sort of position for more comfortable shoulder and arm positions. Also, I was surprised at how very hard the seat was . . . although lovely in leather. The mechanics of the bike and its engineering is spot on."

Amazing bike!

"It’s a beautiful bike that rides very smoothly around South Beach. My advice is 100% pay for the assembly. The bike arrived ready to ride and that made it so much easier."

This bike rules

"I really love Public for this -- I'm pretty sure it took less than a week for the bike to arrive from the time I made the order. I've rarely had such quick turnaround and the bike is cute af. I opted to assemble myself and forgo the $99 fee, and while it was a little intimidating at first, I was able to get everything together without too much trouble. They even included touch up paint in case I chip or scrape my new-bike paint job. (I'll admit I did have a local tune-up shop check my work and they commented the bike and components are really nice, especially for the price. ) For the first time since I was seven years old, I have a new bike and it's been a game changer. Thank you Public!"

Excellent

"Very happy with this purchase. Excellent build quality and aesthetics. Fast shipping and pick up at Mike's in Berkeley. Great experience all the way around."

Thoma W. (5/5)

Love this bike

"This is a great bike right out of the box. Easy to put together, the fit and finish is fantastic. I love the classic look of this bike. I thought maybe I would have to upgrade a few of the cheaper parts like the pedals but they are pretty solid. Easily put a couple hundred miles on it in the last couple of weeks and this bike rides like a dream"

"Looks great. Smooth ride."

Best bike on the market

"I did a lot of research before purchasing my public bike and the positive reviews were all very worthy. I chose the option to have the bike almost ready to ride and it was so easy to set up. The video was clear and simple and easy to follow. The bike itself is very stylish and cool and rides really well. I get so many comments on it. Highly recommend and great value for money."

I love it

"Exactly what I wanted."

Great bike for smooth roads

"If you have a neighborhood with nice smooth, easy roads, then this is a great bike. However, if you have to go up and down hills and over bumps in the road, the handlebars are a bit too relaxed for the extra control needed. The cafe bar they sell is a good (and cheap) upgrade for higher speed stability any control; I just wish it came standard."

V7

"I use my bike everyday to commute in the city.. They are well built work horses...perfect for city roads, etc."

Q&A

Does this bike have dual wall rims?
All of 7-speed derailleur bikes come standard with single-wall rims. Our premium 7-speed internal hub models come standard with upgraded double-wall rims.
Does the bike come with reflectors in the spokes of the wheels and front and back?
The V7 does come with spoke reflectors. We strongly suggest that a front and rear light is used as well if riding at night.
What is proper way to shift gears on the V7? I understand it differs from the V7i.
Thanks for reaching out! Actually, the way the gears shift is the same...there is a throttle type shifter that you spin forward or back to change into different gears. What is different is WHERE the gears are on the bike. On a V7, they are located externally, using a rear derailleur which moves the chain onto different cogs, like 99% of bikes you see on the road. On the V7i, and other "i" series bikes, they are built into the rear wheel, which makes shifting very smooth, and easy. Typically, the 7i bikes require a bit less maintenance to keep the gears dialed in, plus you can shift whilst completely stopped without grinding gears! Hope that helps.
Hello! Does this bike work with the thule yepp nexxt maxi child bike seat?
Thanks for reaching out. As long as you get the model that mounts to the frame like we sell on our website, then it won't have any trouble mounting to the V7. Some models mount to racks, in which case you would obviously need a rear rack to mount the seat to. I hope that helps!
How much does the V7 weigh?
Hello, Thank you for your interest. The Public V7 weighs 32lbs. You can view this on the bike specs located above the add to cart button.
